The Tech company, Huawei has slowly made a name for itself with their android based devices in the last few years. The Chinese company has done very well with pricing their phones at a good price for good quality. I wouldn’t consider them to be budget prices, but not as pricey as an iPhone or a flagship Samsung device. They are getting things ready to release their P10 and P10 Plus devices.
The Huawei P10 has 5.1 inch display that has a 1080p resolution, while the Plus variant comes with a 5.5 inch display and a 1440p resolution. The slightly bigger version is very similar to the 5.1 inch model with the exception of a bigger display, a bigger battery, a f/1.8 summilux lens and the resolution. It seems like a lot of differences, but for the most part you’ll still have roughly the same experience with either device.
Along all these specs, the device also comes sporting a 64-bit octa-core processor, 4gb of ram, and 64gb of storage. Out of the box this sleek device is running Android 7.0 and you can get it a ton of different colors. The P10’s camera is one of the best on the market with a 20mp lens, and a 8mp front facing camera. The Plus variant comes with a whopping 3,750 mAh battery.
Samsung, for some time now has been one of the biggest Android based smartphones, being sold. I have strong feeling that Huawei will give Samsung a run for their money, literally. The P10 looks super promising, and Huawei has managed to cram all of this tech into an extremely slim phone, with it coming in at just 6.98 mm. The only bad thing I can think of about the phone is the fact that it isn’t dust and water resistant like the many phones out in the market are.
The Nintendo Switch has been out for about a week now, and it is selling very well so far. However, there have been some problems coming in from people all over the place. On top of that the console has been getting very mixed reviews from critics. Some praising the console, while others seriously criticizing it for the lack of features built in (like apps, or other basic things) and unable to perform as well as a dedicated mobile device or dedicated home console. Some people think that the $299.99 price tag is too steep for what it offers at the moment, with myself being one of those people.
Check out IGN or CNET’s review to see good honest opinions about the Switch. A lot of what they talk about is true, and they aren’t bashing the console. The console is experiencing issues with some users. For instance, for some the game start to flicker on the screen whether its docked to the TV or if you’re simply playing on the actual tablet itself. For some the controllers are having trouble connecting to the system. It seems like something is interfering the signal to the Switch. The controllers also feel like they are going to fall off when they are connected to the system itself, when playing in portable mode. The system will randomly stop working and and making a loud noise until you power down the console. When you go to insert the game you want to play sometimes the game won’t pop up and you can’t play the game.
All of these problems are pretty bad, but this is the first batch of consoles and this isn’t happening to everyone. This is actually happening to a small percent of people. None of this stuff has happened to me and I’m having a blast with my Switch. However, there is one issue that is actually very important for people to be aware of. When you have the joycon controllers separated and you put on the strap that comes in the box, you need to be very careful when putting it on and off. I put the strap on the wrong way my first time and when I went to slide it off I had to put some extreme force. While doing so, I very close to slicing my finger open. This seems to be a serious design flaw especially knowing that lots of children will be using this device.
With all of this being said, it is a solid device. It has problems just like every new piece of technology. If any of these things have scared you off from purchasing one, I’d advise you to maybe wait a few months until Nintendo irons out these things. I think the Switch has a bright future ahead of itself and that Nintendo really has made the console many of us have wanted.
I’ve had the Nintendo Switch for about 5 days now, and it’s a fascinating piece of hardware. Nintendo has finally made the console that many of us have wanted for years. It does exactly what they advertised. It allows you to play home console quality games where ever you want whether it be in the car, in your bed, on the TV, or even in bathroom. Yes, I said the bathroom and it’s amazing.
There are some limitations to this of course. You won’t be able to play many fancy third party games that you might have seen on the PS4 or Xbox One, but thats okay. Nintendo makes extremely high quality games and they’ve been consistent about it for decades. They released their latest Zelda game and critics have been praising the game which only shows that Nintendo is still very capable of putting out amazing games. Along with the lack of some third party games, the system is pretty bare bones. you really can only play gams on it at the moment, and there aren’t many games on the console. The system is suppose to last from 2.5 hours – 6 hours. In my experience, while playing mostly Zelda: Breath of The Wild I’ve been able to play the game close to 3 hours before having to plug the Switch in. However, I did have the brightness mostly all the way down.
The console itself is very sturdy and it’s honestly a pleasure to hold it in your hands and to be able to play Zelda anywhere. The two pieces of the controller, known as the Joycons feel good while it attached to the system. Once you disconnect them and play the Switch on your TV you notice how different the controllers are when compared to more normal controllers. They aren’t too bad when you place them on the controller grip that comes in the box, but when using one piece of the controller only is when you have issues. The main issue that most people seem to have is the size. The Joycon controllers are incredibly small. However, you need to take into consideration that they were made this way to be able to fit on the tablet (the Switch) and be a good size to easily travel with.
This isn’t a full review of the Nintendo switch, and I do plan on doing a full review once I have more time spent with the console. So far I’m really enjoying the system and I’m plenty others will be to. That being said I don’t think it’s really worth people jumping off of their couches to go out and buy one at the steep price of $300 and with really only one great game out. On top of that, the only game worth buying right now (Zelda) is also available on Nintendo’s old home console (the Wii U). I would advise people to either wait for a price drop or at least wait for a few more quality games to come out. If you don’t mind spending $300 and you are a fan of Zelda then I would say pick a Switch up.
The Tech company LG is well known for it’s Tv’s, and smartphones, as well as their refrigerators and washing machines. Lately however, their smartphones have been a bit flip floppy to say the least. The LG G5 was suppose to be some what groundbreaking by featuring a module design. You were suppose to be able to switch out pieces of the phone to have a better camera, or to have a better speaker. This was a very cool idea, but it really was just an idea. They compromised design for features that not many people wanted. In the end the phone didn’t sell well and caused LG to push their secondary flagship phone called the LG V series a little harder this year. Now in March, LG is releasing their next LG G series with the G6. This phone looks extremely promising.
The phone features a more clean and sleek design from last years phone. The phone is glass on front and back, with metal siding. The phone doesn’t seem to have much curving like some of the past phones had. The phone itself is a bit thicker by a few mm’s when comparing it to the likes of the iPhone 7. The phone has a dual camera on the rear of the phone, along with the home button and fingerprint scanner. Inside you have a 3,300 mAh battery which is one of the biggest batteries to be featured in LG’s smartphones. This is the first G series phone to have no removable battery, but in doing so it has aloud LG to make the phone water and dust resistant. On the front side of things, LG has made the bezels of the phone even smaller than previous models. The bezels are ultra slim, much like what we are expecting to see on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8. The phone comes with a 5.7 inch screen just like the Galaxy Note devices and a Quad HD resolution. The phone looks great, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. If you want to know all of the exact specs of the phone, be sure to check out Android Authority’s video featuring the Lg G6.
Late summer 2016 Samsung released The Galaxy Note 7 and it was a fantastic device with a great update to Samsung’s user interface “Touchwiz”. Unfortunately, the Note 7 was destructive and had a massive call back and was removed from all stores shelves. Recently however, The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge just got an update that contained a lot of the features that the Note 7 had. The other big thing is that the Galaxy S line is now on Android’s latest operating system known as Nougat.
The Galaxy S models usually come out every spring, while the Note line of phones come out close to the fall. These are supposed to be different phones, aimed at different people. However, Samsung likes to make the next phone always better than the last one no matter which line of phones they are working on next. So the people who just got one phone a few months ago usually get a little upset when it’s already inferior. The other thing that is usually strange is how the last phone that came out won’t get some of the updates or features that come with the new phone. That’s why it’s actually a relatively big deal that the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge got an update that contained a lot of the things that the Note 7 came with. This begs a question though, will be continue to get these updates for the latest Galaxy S phones and the latest Galaxy Note phones?
The company behind one of the greatest budget smartphones will be releasing their 2017 edition soon and I’ve been thinking about what to expect. I recently read an article talking about the rumored specs and it got me thinking again.
This Phone really could be the one to get people to stop buying their phones that are connected through their cell phone service providers. The reason why anyone would be interested in the “One Plus” series of phones is because they are good quality phones and you’re paying more than half less of the price of a mainstream flagship phone. If you pick up a brand new iPhone you’re looking at close to $800, at least if you want a big screen. The One Plus 3 for instance, was $399 when it launched and the company as plenty of sales for their devices. The dilemma with this was that you weren’t always getting the top of the line specs since you weren’t paying for it. However, This year it all could be different.
The next phone is said to have features that their rivals have had in their phones for some time now as well as features that haven’t been seen in many phones to date. It’s suppose to sport a 5.5 inch Quad HD display, 6gb of ram, a huge 4,400 mAh battery, a curved screen, USB-C type slot for charging, and be waterproof. We’ve seen plenty of 5.5 inch screen phones within the last few years, Quad HD has been around for some years too. There has been rumors that Samsung was going to include 6gb of ram their flagship smartphones for some time now, but we still haven’t seen it. If the next One Plus device came equipped with that much ram than it would be among some of the first phones to have that much ram. This is a budget smartphone, so have all these features would truly be amazing! You would basically have all the great specs of a high end phone, but paying half the price. You wouldn’t have to be on one of those payment plans or dish out a huge chunk of money at once.
Apple might not be too worried since the One Plus phones run on Android, and people like Apple for IOS. I don’t see many people running form IOS to Android to get their hands on this device, but Samsung, LG, and other companies who make devices for Android should be a little concerned. Samsung does make a wide variety of smartphones that range from $100-$900, but their cheaper phones have never been the greatest. It’ll be interesting to see ho well the One Plus 3 sells, and if it has any impact on Samsung’s sales or any other smartphone company.
We carry these rectangular slabs of plastic and metal everyday and we get concerned about what’s going on with our social media apps when they run out of battery. If we carry these things around all the time wouldn’t you want it to be something that you can do a lot with or it be something unique, something that is different from what the person next to you has? With Android you get to pick from tons of different phones rather than sticking with basically one phone that Apple offers. Everything about Android allows you to make your phone, your phone.
With iPhones your pretty limited to what you can do and with what you get out of the box. If you want a new phone and you want to stay in Apple’s ecosystem your choice is between the normal sized phone, or the plus variant. That’s it, nothing else to choice from and both phones look identical with the only noticeable difference being the size of the device. When take out the phone from the box and turn it on you’re greeted with the same lock screen, and same home screen like always. You can’t really make your home screen look too different. Everyone is going to have the same looking phone as you in every way possible. Sure you can change the wallpaper and have your own ringtone, but it’s just not going to stand out from the crowd. What you really need is an Android phone!
Android is a very unique operating system and you can do a lot with it. First off you got tons of phones to pick from. You have the expensive flagship phones that lots of companies have that most cell phone service companies promote. You also have cheaper phones you can choice from if you’re on a budget. There’s a smartphone out there that will fulfill your needs. Once you pick the phone that best fits your needs you can go ahead and customize the phone’s user interface! You can do whatever you want with the apps on your phone, you can make widgets on your home screens, have live wallpapers, and have different keyboards for texting. With android smartphones you can also do true multi-tasking which Apple doesn’t quite do. You can download different launchers on your phone from the google play store which in some ways turns it into a different phone all together. With all of this at your disposal, there is almost no way that you’d have a unique device on your hands and have people wondering what kind of phone you have! Having an Android phone in my opinion really expresses what kind of person you are and sometimes shows off our creativity.
